The University of Central Arkansas Choral Department, under the direction of Dr. Paul Mayhew, consists of two auditioned ensembles (Concert Choir and Chamber Singers) and two non-auditioned ensembles, the Tapestry Treble Choir and the BearTones Tenor-Bass Choir.

The West Virginia Governor's School for the Arts Instrumental Music program allows advanced young instrumentalists to experience what it takes to be a contemporary musical artist. 

Through an integrated curriculum of music theory, history, composition, and performance, students are given opportunities to generate a personal artistic vision, refine their musical ideas through collaboration, and develop instrumental technique according to the demands of original repertoire.

Ryan Kerwin

Recording Artist, Jazz Trumpeter & Composer

Recipient of Post-Production & Prep for Distribution

Ryan Kerwin is a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and educator based in the DMV. His work combines a soulful trumpet tone, a disciplined approach to jazz improvisation, and thoughtful group-oriented arranging to create music that is collaborative and groove-oriented.
 
His growing discography captures in an inventive musical voice with an awareness of the jazz tradition and an ability to bring out the best in his collaborators. His latest release, Trio! Live at the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts (2026), showcases a set of place-based compositions in a high-energy organ trio performance. It follows his first studio EP, Color (2024), a collection of original compositions exploring the color palette of modern jazz composition.
